Multigroupe.
Multigroupe
was established in 1995, to hold among other interests, companies related to logistics, shipping and terminal operations.
Its partners have a family history in shipping that dates back to 1872.
Among its partners, are the pioneers of the private stevedore-terminal business in Mexico, having owned and operated
Compañia Terminal de Veracruz (Port of Veracruz 1991), Compañia Terminal de Manzanillo (Port of Manzanillo 1995),
Manjalba (Port of Manzanillo 1997), Terminal Portuaria de Manzanillo (Port of Manzanillo, Formerly Vopak Terminal 2003), Terminal
Maritima de Veracruz (Port of Veracruz 2004) and Distribuidora Portuaria de Combustibles (Manzanillo 2007 to date).
The Multigroupe crew has been in Manzanillo
and Veracruz since the day they were privatized (1995 and 1991 respectively), handling all kinds of cargo (bulk, break bulk,
general cargo, liquid bulk, fuel, containers, etc.) for various clients.
In 2006 Multigroupe got involved in the restructure of the old Port of Manzanillo,
and as a result the company sold both its Manzanillo terminals, one to Hutchison Ports (former operating partner) and the
other to a local group (OCUPA). It then acquired the last two pieces of private land adjacent to the Port for the purpose
of building and operating a marine gas station and a liquid bulk terminal (bunker fuel, paraffin wax, etc). Both facilities
will initially operate out of the fisherman’s wharf and then onto one of the new berths (16 and 17) of the new multi-use
facility.
In 2007 Multigroupe established Distribuidora
Portuaria de Combustibles (DPC) to operate the marine gas station in a partnership with CORPOGAS (operates 100 gas stations
and fuel transport) and MARINDUSTRIAS (domestic tuna fishing company).
In march of 2008 Multigroupe finished refurbishing the bunker fuel terminal and began
operations, while completing the design of the new liquid bulk facility, which is expected to be in operation by 2009.
